The Comité interministériel du développement durable

The Comité interministériel du développement durable (CIDD) has been in existance since April 1991. A preferred tool for collaboration in matters pertaining to sustainable development within the Québec government, the CIDD brings together, under the guidance of the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs, representatives from all departments and a number of government agencies.

Mandate

The CIDD is first and foremost an arena for discussion, information and promotion of sustainable development. It supports and accompanies the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs in the realization of mandates conferred to it by the Sustainable Development Act. To this end, it encourages the concertation and harmonization of various interventions carried out within Québec’s public service.

The CIDD will help monitor and implement the Governement Sustainable Development Strategy and produce periodical progress reports and implementation reports required by the Sustainable Development Act.

Procedure

  • CIDD members are assistant deputy ministers or their equivalent.
  • The CIDD is presided over by the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs.
  • The Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs also has the secretarial responsibilities.
  • Mechanisms complementary to the CIDD will be implemented so that all departments, agencies and enterprises of the public service will be committed to the government’s initiative to expand sustainable development.
