RIVIÈRE DES MILLE ÎLES - NEW WORK TIMETABLE

Québec City, September 1, 2010. – The ministère du Développement durable de l’Environnement et des Parcs (MDDEP) would like to inform residents of Deux-Montagnes and Laval that the contractor in charge of work on the rivière des Mille Îles has encountered some progress delays upstream from the barrage du Grand-Moulin. The planned schedule has thus been extended for several weeks, and work should be finished by the end of October.

The work is necessary to guarantee adequate permanent supply of water to residents of Montréal’s northern tier, which has an estimated population of 400,000. The MDDEP assures that a very rigorous program of environmental oversight has been put in place to verify that the highest standards of quality are met during the process.

A Web site and toll free telephone line are available to the population for any questions or concerns.
