MINISTER MULCAIR TO HOLD CONSULTATION MEETINGS IN NORD-DU-QUÉBEC ON QUEBEC'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Quebec City, February 10, 2005 – Mr. Thomas J. Mulcair, Minister of the Environment, and Mr. Pierre Corbeil, Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Parks and Minister responsible for the Region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Region of Nord-du-Québec, will be in Kuujjuaq, on Monday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 1, for Quebec's Sustainable Development Plan consultation tour.

The ministers will be meeting in Kuujjuaq with local leaders and citizens to receive their comments on the Sustainable Development Plan.

"I invite individuals and organizations to turn out in large numbers for these public meetings, which are of strategic importance. Indeed, they will enable us to improve the draft bill respecting the sustainable development of Québec so that this collective initiative may better meet the aspirations of our society as a whole,” said ministers Mulcair and Corbeil.

Information on how to participate in the consultation as well as documents on Quebec's Sustainable Development Plan are available on the ministère de l’Environnement's Web site (www.menv.gouv.qc.ca).
