Combating climate change demands immediate and concerted action on the part of all of society’s stakeholders. Québec is keenly aware of this: as a result of our choices and actions, we are the Canadian province that emits the least GHGs per capita. However, the fight does not end there.
With the 2013-2020 Climate Change Action Plan (2013-2020 CCAP) and the government's strategy for adapting to climate change, Québec is now working on two fronts: reducing its GHG emissions and increasing its resilience and capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
To achieve its goal by 2020, Québec will be able to rely on the cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions allowances, which will be launched in January, 2013, and on the progress it has achieved through the implementation of the 2006-2012 Climate Change Action Plan. Above all, Québec will be able to count on involved citizens, businesses and organizations aspiring to live in a greener and more sustainable society.
